ACE Freework & Observation Workshop

Discover Your Dog

Waggology North East and Yonderton Dog Training are joining forces to bring you an exciting workshop!

Join us on Saturday, 28th March, for an immersive experience designed to deepen the bond between you and your canine companion. This workshop focuses on ACE Freework, a method that allows dogs to engage with their environment at their own pace, helping you understand their unique preferences and physical needs.

What to Expect

The primary goal of this session is to provide dogs with a variety of items to interact with, enabling you to identify what they truly enjoy and what they might prefer to avoid. Beyond just "having fun," this workshop is a powerful tool for caregivers to sharpen their observation skills. You will learn to spot subtle signs of body tension and potential mobility issues that your dog may be exhibiting.

Interactive Stations include:

  • Sensory Path: Exploring a variety of textures underfoot.

  • Enrichment Alley: Trying out lick mats, towel games, snuffle mats, and "busy boxes".

  • Paws Up Station: Focused activities to build confidence.

  • Proprioception & Movement: Using wobble boards, and height preferences to improve body awareness.

  • Preference Testing: Experimenting with different bowl types, such as ceramic, to see what your dog prefers.

Workshop Structure

To ensure a calm and focused environment, dogs will work one at a time.

  • Education: A welcome presentation to inform of all things ACE Freework, what to look for with regards to pain, tension, choices and avoidance

  • Intervals: Each dog has a 30-minute slot, consisting of 15–20 minutes of active work followed by a 10-minute group discussion.

  • Collaborative Learning: We will discuss what you saw, what the trainers saw, and the next steps for your dog’s development.

  • Gait Analysis: We will be closely watching each dog's gait and movement throughout the session.
